Brick & Mortar Fundraiser
Light the Fire Books isn’t just a bookstore. It’s a community space built around access, literacy, and belonging. Every dollar supports a place where books are shared freely, readers are welcomed without pressure, and stories reach people who might not otherwise have them, from kids and families to those in hard places. This is about keeping books in circulation, minds engaged, and community connections alive.

Help Bring a Cozy Used Bookstore to Chadron, Nebraska
Light the Fire Books is a one-woman used bookstore built from years of dreaming, persistence, and a deep love of reading.

What began as a personal collection of books from garage sales, library sales, and private owners has grown into a clear vision: creating a cozy, community-centered brick-and-mortar used bookstore in Chadron, Nebraska. A place where readers of all ages can browse, study, relax, and rediscover the joy of real books.

Light the Fire Books focuses on quality used books, fair pricing, and giving books a second life—both on shelves and in the community.

What This Campaign Supports

Funds raised through this campaign will be used to:

• Expand used-book inventory and shelving
• Secure and maintain a future brick-and-mortar location
• Cover essential operating costs such as rent, utilities, insurance, software, and supplies
• Support community initiatives, including a large Little Free Library, book donations to local jails, and future programs for children and families

Not every book has resale value—and that’s okay. Books that cannot be sold will still be placed where they can be read, shared, and loved.

Community Impact

This project is about more than opening a bookstore. It’s about building something lasting and meaningful for the community:

• Free access to books through a large Little Free Library
• Updated reading materials for incarcerated individuals
• Future book-gifting programs for children and families in need
• A welcoming space that encourages literacy, curiosity, and connection

How You Can Help

• Share this campaign to help spread the word
• Follow along for updates as the bookstore grows

Together, we can build something special—one book at a time.

Thank you for supporting Light the Fire Books.
Supporter Appreciation

Light the Fire Books is built on community and a shared love of reading. These perks are simply a thank-you. They’re optional, and they’re offered with gratitude, not as purchases.

Important: Perks are cumulative, meaning each level includes the gifts from the tiers below it (unless a supporter chooses to opt out). Supporters may also choose to donate any physical perk to a person, school, library, or organization of their choice.
Where does the money go?
Every dollar raised supports the growth and sustainability of Light the Fire Books as a community-centered bookstore and gathering space.

Funds are used for:

-
Used & new inventory – expanding the selection of books alongside curated offerings that support a well-rounded, engaging shopping experience
-
Local goods and offerings – including baked goods from local bakers, jewelry and art from talented local artists, and a self-serve gourmet coffee station
-
Shelving and storage – bookcases, display units, and safe storage for inventory and donations
-
Brick-and-mortar preparation – rent, utilities, insurance, and required operating expenses for a future downtown location
-
Operational tools – software, supplies, labeling, and systems needed to manage inventory, sales, and fulfillment
-
Community initiatives – including a large Little Free Library, book donations to local jails, and future reading programs for children and families
Not every book has resale value—and that’s intentional. Books that cannot be sold are redirected into free or donation-based programs, ensuring they are still read, shared, and enjoyed.

This project is built carefully and responsibly, with a focus on long-term sustainability, literacy, community gathering, and support of local talent, not quick profit.
